Artifact Overview
This digital tools audit examined the technology platforms and resources currently used at Kenly Elementary School and within the media center. The audit included tools for reading motivation, eBooks and audiobooks, personalized instruction, content creation, research, library management, and single sign-on access. For each category, I identified the tools in use, their primary purposes and features, observed patterns of use, and recommendations for improving implementation.
I selected this artifact for Outcome II.c because it demonstrates my ability to evaluate information technologies according to how effectively they support students, teachers, and library services. The audit moved beyond identifying which tools were available and considered how they were actually being used, where adoption was limited, and where stronger instructional integration could improve access and learning. Recommendations included increasing use of research databases and digital reading platforms, expanding classroom applications of Canva, introducing students to more independent catalog searching, and supporting the district's transition to a new single sign-on environment. The project demonstrates that effective use of technology in a school library requires not simply providing digital tools, but continually evaluating whether those tools are meeting the needs of the people they are intended to serve.
